It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

0 footprints

It’s feeling a lot like Christmas around here.

IMG_9097_thumb2

The Christmas tree is up, with lots of presents underneath! Looks like we’ve all been good. Something looks like it’s missing though…ah yes, the angel. She decided to quit after last Christmas. She said “I’ve had enough of these branches up my dress and will stand for it no longer.” So she is not there anymore Sad smile She will be missed.

My parents bought a new ornament for me! Isn’t it adorable? She even has an incredible short stride like I do. If only I looked that good when running hah.

My favorite ornament of course is this one. It’s basically the prettiest ornament on the tree…just saying. Not that I am biased or anything.

Some good eating has been happening since being at home.

IMG_9091_thumb2

Spaghetti that is perfectly cooked unlike school food.

IMG_9094_thumb2

Italian Meatloaf, one of my favorites. Meatloaf stuffed with parmesan cheese and mushrooms. Some salad and bread as you can see accompanied this delicious piece of meat.

IMG_9109_thumb2

Then this magnificent piece of food has been consumed twice thus far over break. Ling Ling Potstickers

From Costco of course.

Then of course I made a wonderful bracelet for my one of my favorite bloggy friends. Liz!! You should check out her blog, she’s got a ton of races planned for 2011 that I am anxious to see!! She bought a bracelet but unfortunately a hole occurred in the envelope and the bracelet fell out. So I made a new one with an even cuter button!! (I got a whole bag of cute buttons for bracelets.)

It’s So Nice to Be Running Again

0 footprints

First up, who watched the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show?

I did and my favorite section was the wild things!

This was probably my favorite of them all:

Peacock feathers are so pretty.

What was your favorite section?

So this week I’m back to regular training with the team and I absolutely couldn’t be more thrilled.

Monday: 3 miles

We had to run on the indoor track because it was pouring down rain with extreme storms all around, so it wasn’t a good idea to run outside. The indoor track isn’t my favorite place to run, but when you have people to run with it isn’t so bad. Especially when you have the Garmin Footpod so you don’t have to count laps.

Tuesday: 3 miles

My teammate Madalyn and I ran together on a flatter route in town. It was about 30 degrees out but we warmed up after the first mile. We saw 10 deer altogether in a field running. Seeing deer is nothing new but that many was really cool to see. My favorite run was when I was running this same route but alone and 6 deer ran across the street right in front of me. Probably the coolest thing to happen during a run.

Have you ever had anything cool happen while running?

Wednesday:
3.9 miles

Wasn’t as cold as Tuesday but the wind was pretty strong which made running a hilly route pretty awful. Needless to say, we got slowed down.

32:32 [8:20 per mile]

Do you run with a gps, if so do you find yourself running extra to hit the mile marks exactly? I usually will add on more to hit my daily mileage but since I’m basically in the off season and building, we weren’t too worried. I think it’s extremely nice to just run and not think of the mileage. But when you are training to compete it’s nice to hit your mileage or extremely close because if you are off by .25-.50 every day on your running routes then think of the miles you are shorting yourself. I think it’s really just personal preference though.

Ah, time to go to class!

Hope everyone is having a great day!

PS prices for bracelets are still the sale price until further notice!! So order them up!

Week Full of Highlights

0 footprints

Tuesday

I experimented with a new bracelet pattern. This one includes beads and I think it’s probably one of my favorites, but also the most time consuming. These will be $6 because of the beads.

   PB220017 PB220021

Then I packed/gathered up my things to head home!!

 PB220022 PB220023

I’m really loving my Nike Backpack we got for Track. It’s actually made for soccer, but it works so well for track as well because the ball holder is a great holder for shoes. If you need a gym bag, you definitely should check these out. They are actually on sale at Nike.com and they have a zipper side pocket on each of the sides as well as a long mesh pocket on the side for a big nathan bottle or any bottle in general. I fit over a weeks worth of running clothes into this bag if that tells you how big it is on the inside!

Then my other bag is my GoLite “Travelite Wheeled Carry On” bag I won from GoLite’s giveaway contest. It is probably the best traveling bag for me since I’m so small and let’s face it, not very strong. I also fit a weeks worth of clothes in this bag. It also can strap onto your back like a backpack which is nice if you are in a rush and don’t want to wheel it around.

For dinner we went to Old Spaghetti Factory which in my opinion has THE best tortellini ever. It’s Spinach tortellini with alfredo sauce. Definitely try it if you haven’t.

Wednesday

Nothing too major went on except Chili Mac for lunch!!!!

Thanksgiving!

We always go to my grandma’s house for thanksgiving. My dad cooked everything and it was all amazing. We had a lot more than what’s on my plate, but I’m not a big fan of Thanksgiving food besides the mashed potatoes, turkey and rolls. Yes, I am weird. But most of Thanksgiving food involves vegetables and I don’t like any of it. I’ve tried all the Thanksgiving food in the past and just don’t like it :/

IMAG0279

After my grandparent’s, Alex and I went to his grandma’s house and just sat with the family. Alex’s car broke down and wouldn’t start at his grandma’s house. :(

Friday

Went to my local running store at 8am to check the sales for Black Friday. Found a cute shirt that says “She runs, She Walks, mile and miles, for a cure” For Susan G. Komen. I bought that for $9 and it’s a tech short sleeve, even better!

Then we found some great deals at JCpenneys. I got 3 pairs of running capris, and two amazingly soft jackets.

Lunch was pasta roni or Turkey Sandwiches. I wanted Pasta Roni since I eat Turkey Sandwiches at school all the time.

PB260001

We got some pretty bad/scary news. Alex’s dad had gone to their farm the night before and so he was there with a friend fourwheeling. His dad was going really fast and hit a stump in the ground and flew off. He was taken to the hospital in town but then airlifted to the St. Louis hospital. He is incredibly lucky to be alive right now but is in a bit of pain. Thankfully he can feel his arms and legs. Unfortunately he is banged up pretty bad inside with a few broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a lot of inside bruising on his adrenal glands and kidney. If you could, keep him in your prayers for a full recovery. He deserves it.

Saturday

My last day at home, since I was going to Alex’s house that night.

My mom made Flautas which is one of my all time home favorites!

You chop up onions, cube ham, and put refried beans and cheese all into a bowl and microwave it to get a bit hot. Then you mix it all up and fill tortillas with the mixture then fry them. They are amazing!

IMAG0280

I also wanted to make some Puppy Chow to take back to school, because come on, it’s so good!!

 PB280003

We decided to watch Eat Pray Love and I was not a fan. This movie just dragged on and on. I felt like she was in India for the majority of the movie. It was already 1 1/2 hours into it and she hadn’t even gotten to Bali yet. So I guess it was a bit slow if you want to say that. Won’t be buying this one.

As far as running goes, I ran 4 out of the 7 days. I was supposed to run 5 days but on Friday I was running all around town and spending time with my family that I just didn’t have time until it was getting dark out.

Monday: 2 miles in 14:30 @ 7:15/mile
Tuesday: no running
Wednesday: 2 mile in 16:15 @ 8:07/mile
Thursday: no running
Friday: no running
Saturday: 2 miles in 15:29 @ 7:44/mile
Sunday: 2 miles in 14:56 @ 7:28/mile

Keep reading throughout the week, I should have a giveaway this week or next!!

What a Slow Day

Casey, my roommate let me have a can of her chicken noodle soup, since I was out of meals and nowhere was open until 4. :( And obviously I can’t drive since we aren’t sure why I passed out yet.

Can you tell I’ve been bored? I’ve posted like a bajillion times today!!

But I’ve also made a few bracelets. If you want one let me know, because they were just made out of boredom!

I was trying some new things.

The last one I crocheted the hook for the bead. I thought it was a lot cuter than just the thread hook.

What do you think?
